An interactive two dimensional plot with a sinusoidal function with amplitude of oscillations increases as the horizontal coordinate is farther from zero. A point on the curve is highlighted at (1,-1) and the line tangent to the curve at the highlighted point is drawn in red. The slider at the top of the figure changes the size of the neighborhood that is plotted for both the curve and the tangent line. As the slider is moved to the right, a smaller neighborhood is plotted and the difference between the curve and tangent line gets smaller.
